Taking care of a baby is really difficult to handle. Most especially if the parent has to do something, he or she could be anxious as to what the baby is currently doing. Who knows, the baby may already be crying because it's hungry or needs anything else.

Thankfully, technology has developed a baby monitor which is designed to parents taking care of their newborn infants. The first versions of this gadget are simply using a sound system so that the parents can hear if the baby is crying.

There are typically two units used in this device. First is the Baby Unit which is placed near the baby. The Parent's Unit is carried by either a parent or a nanny anywhere inside the house. Every time the baby releases a sound such as crying, the Baby Unit sends the sound to the Parent's unit.

But today, the video baby monitor has already been developed. Unlike the first model, these monitors already utilize a video camera. That way, the Baby Unit can take some pictures of what the baby is doing. This device is now the most popular model used today.

Using a TV or an LCD screen, the person carrying the video baby monitor can easily view the pictures. Moreover, there are those video monitors that even have night vision features or those that can be used in places with low light or without any lights at all.

Night vision feature is an important feature which needs to be included in all types of baby monitors. Certain video baby monitor includes Infrared LEDs in front of the camera which will allow the caregiver to view the baby when the room is dark.

Other kinds of baby monitors come with the night vision mode and the camera will automatically change to this mode once it detects the low light.
