Finally The Good Stuff - Gasoline Lawn Edger Critique

by Zoey Rivera

When trimming denser grass, the guard tends to catch on the grass. I had to fight with the trimmer a few times to push it along my taller edges. It does a great job for an electric edger. Before purchasing this edger, I did not edge my lawn for 5 years.

I am in a newer community and I discovered that there are many rocks along the edge of the pavement and my yard. The edge hog threw one of these rocks toward my neighbor's house, and almost hit her and could have easily shattered a window were her car in the driveway. My only complaint is the blades are pricey. You can buy a generic blade and file the hole to get it to fit the shaft and save a few bucks but that is a pain, so be prepared to shell out $7 a pop. Be prepared however, the first time you use is will be the most difficult. After using it for the first time this past weekend, I found that the grass along the side of my driveway had grown over about 2 to 3 inches in most spots.

I have been using it for about a year now and it still does a great job. A few notes - Only use it when it is bone dry outside.

I've had this product for over a year. The Good: You need a lot of extension cord, but that's obvious.

I was going to purchase a Craftsman edger, but after seeing all the bad reviews, I decided not to go with gas and bought the Edge Hog after seeing all the reviews on Amazon. Got the Edge Hog out of the box.

I read reviews on this particular Black and Decker model and it seemed to be the best for the price. After looking at area stores I found this one on Amazon for less money. Very simple to use and makes edging simple, quick, and easy. I purchased this unit due to all the rave reviews.

Effortless power, easy to start, no cord hassle, and way a better cutting job. I tried electricity and I am back to gas.

It will fill with mud but is easy to clean out. Real easy to assemble but the grass was over the driveway about three inches in places. It's not too heavy to carry around, but it has enough weight to stay in place and dig where you want it to. This is my first edger, and it's definitely a keeper. After using a trimmer for ten years, this was a blessing to use. The first pass in edging went very smoothly, with no hitches at all.
